Experimental Resonance Poster
Our prompt for this project was to design a poster around a feeling of resonance, or the ability to evoke or suggest images, memories, and emotions. I decided to pull inspiration from a monumental point in my life that had to do with my parents. The song Unsteady by X Ambassadors holds a very dear place in my heart, and I felt it was the perfect soundtrack for the emotion I wanted to represent. I paired it with a very personal poem by William Butler Yeats.
The design itself was inspired by a multitude of things like epilepsy, tv static, obscurity, and the deconstruction of the song itself. Exploring noise, depth, glitch, and color deconstruction helped to convey a heavy and complex emotion.
The most important parts of this project were the subtle and various details hidden in the poster. I wanted viewers to get lost in the experience, so that they may want to understand the depth and relationship in the piece. My goal was to captivate viewers with subtleties that were intriguing regardless of their personal meaning, and ultimately resulting in full immersion.
As a deeply emotional and personal project, I'd like to continue to push this piece even further. Currently, I'm working to make it a 3D print experience to further reflect the idea of immersion.
